Northwest Marian Congress

Mary’s emphatic “Yes” to God’s invitation is the subject of Archbishop Murphy’s homily at a Mass celebrated for the Northwest Marian Conference in Lacey, WA. He describes Mary as the first disciple because of her willingness to accept God’s call without reservation. The archbishop calls on all Christians to do the same. “There will be a moment in each of our lives when we will be asked to give an accounting of how we use our gifts,” said Archbishop Murphy. “Will our response be the result of our agenda or are we open to God’s agenda – and agenda which asks us to live our lives as Mary did – in humility and truth, in faith and hope, in taking the risk to walk where Jesus did which would be among the poor, the hungry, the homeless.”
