Religious poverty: A new experience for the young

Archbishop Murphy expresses concern for the lack of knowledge young people possess of the Catholic faith in his weekly Catholic Northwest Progress “In Joy and Hope” column. In light of rapidly declining enrollment numbers in Catholic schools, he calls on all parents, clergy and religious men and women to share our faith tradition with the young. “So much of our faith and worship becomes richer and more meaningful when we know our history,” said Archbishop Murphy. “It would be tragic if the gift of faith that we possess cannot be a gift we share with the next generation.”
