Chrism Mass

Archbishop Murphy’s homily at the Chrism Mass celebrated in St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA challenges all Christians to speak and live the Word of God. We discover who we are as disciples of Jesus by making the Word of God an integral part of our lives. In his view, God’s Word possesses three dimensions: commitment, unity and courage. “The Word of God and the sacred oils. These are not separate realities,” said Archbishop Murphy. “Rather, they are signs and symbol which help us know who we are and what we believe.”
