The blind and those who can see: A choice of faith

In the fourth in a series of six columns on spirituality for the Catholic Northwest Progress, Archbishop Murphy retells the story of the “man gone blind” and how it speaks to God’s gift of spirituality. “In sharing countless gifts with each of us, God challenges us to recognize and to let others see God’s presence in our lives,” said Archbishop Murphy. “This is the basis for our spirituality, our opportunity to let God’s mystery and presence come alive within us.” From his perspective, spirituality does not take root in a day; rather, we are asked to acknowledge our imperfections and open lives to God’s healing presence.
