Pastoral Letter – Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response

Archbishop Murphy was a stalwart advocate of stewardship throughout his life as a priest and bishop. He served as the Chairman of the National Council of Catholic Bishops Ad Hoc Committee on Stewardship. This committee, under his leadership, produced the landmark pastoral letter “Stewardship: A Disciples Response.” The archbishop believed forcefully that stewardship was about so much more than financial resources. At its core, it involves conversion to a new lifestyle of becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ.
