The bishopsÂ’ meeting
Archbishop Murphy provides his thoughts on the upcoming National Council of Catholic Bishops Annual Meeting in his weekly Catholic Northwest Progress “In Joy and Hope” column. This meeting will involve discussion and votes on pastoral letters on stewardship, evangelization and the role of women in the church. “As a bishop, I am asked to be a teacher, a leader who celebrates word and sacrament with people, and the leader of a local church,” said Archbishop Murphy. “I fulfill this responsibility not on my own terms, but on the terms of a Gospel and tradition which seeks to bring unity to who we are as a community of faith.”
