Religious educators – invaluable ministers in the church

Archbishop Murphy offers his perspectives on the fundamental elements of religious education in his weekly Catholic Northwest Progress “In Joy and Hope” column. He believes all religious education programs must have articulated goals to help ensure students have a catechetical experience which is systematic, complete and integral. “Parish-based programs as well as Catholic schools should adhere to religious education and formation programs which will guarantee that all elements of the Christian message will be considered,” said Archbishop Murphy. “It cannot be done in one year, or several years. Rather, it is the ongoing work of a lifetime.”
