First Anniversary as Archbishop of Seattle – St. James Cathedral

Archbishop Murphy celebrated a Mass at St. James Cathedral to mark the first anniversary of his role as the leader of the Church of Western Washington. “It is the Eucharist which gives us our identity as a community of faith,” said Archbishop Murphy in his homily. “It is the Eucharist which nourishes, strengthens and challenges us to be a people of faith and hope.” In his view, success or failure in what we do and who we are as disciples of Jesus Christ depends on whether or not we love God with our whole heart, mind and soul and love our neighbor as ourselves.
