Good Friday

April 17, 1992

Uncategorized

“The reality of death confronts us this evening as we celebrate this Liturgy of Good Friday,” said Archbishop Murphy as the start of his homily in St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA. He challenges all present to develop a new understanding of death – one which informs us that death brings new life to the community. The archbishop cites Christ’s death as the moment the Church began. “We prepare for that moment (death) by making our lives an experience of self-giving,” said Archbishop Murphy. “When we do, we conquer death as Jesus did, and we share in his triumph.”
