National Migration Week Celebration

Archbishop Murphy celebrated Masses in Seattle and Tacoma to mark the beginning of National Migration Week. Since so many immigrants coming to America share our faith traditions, he believes the Catholic Church has an obligation to welcome them. The archbishop asks all Catholics to embrace this ministry of welcome with open minds, open hearts and open arms. “The church is often described as a mosaic which has its beauty in the diversity of jewels and precious stones which make up the mosaic,” said Archbishop Murphy. “As a nation and a Church, we are enriched by the presence of immigrants, refugees and migrants who travel to discover a new life of freedom and faith.”
