Beginning a New Ministry

Archbishop Murphy dedicates his weekly Catholic Northwest Progress “In Joy and Hope” column to share his thoughts and perspectives on the future in his new role as spiritual leader of the Church of Western Washington. He celebrated Mass for the first time as Archbishop of Seattle in St. James Cathedral on August 21, 1991 – 13 years to the day of his ordination and installation as the Bishop of Great Falls, MT in 1978.
