Archbishop Murphy delivered the homily at a service held at Plymouth Congregational Church in Seattle, WA to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The son of Irish emigrants, Archbishop Murphy took great pride in his Irish heritage. He called for greater communication between all of God’s people in the hope that such dialogue would lead to lasting peace. The archbishop concluded by stating, “Somehow or other, we dare to ask God to hear our prayers and to encourage people to bring an end to the divisions and hatred, the violence and bloodshed which stains the heart and soul of a nation.”
