In his homily for the Mass to celebrate the commissioning of a new group of men and women for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Archbishop offers his gratitude for their willingness to hear God’s call and have the courage to respond. He describes all the new volunteers as disciples who express a willingness to make the Gospel come alive. The archbishop offered the following blessing in conclusion, “May your ministry as a Jesuit Volunteer help you discover God’s presence in the lives of others. … May you have the wisdom to know and understand that none of us can share the presence of the Lord with others until we have opened our lives to that presence within ourselves.”
