The Person, The Procedures, The Policies – Convocation of Admissions Personnel of Seminaries

Archbishop Murphy delivered this address on theologate admission policies and procedures to a convocation of admissions directors at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Hales Corners, WI. He shared perspectives on a number of topics including the need for quality candidates, importance of developing a true understanding of the priesthood, taking an active approach to recruiting quality candidates, pre-theologate programs, the future of college seminaries, the appropriate time for discernment of a call to a vocation and ongoing formation after ordination. He challenged all those present to always side with the Church and its people if there is any doubt about a candidate’s fitness for ministry.
