Marian Year Celebration

Archbishop Murphy describes the gift of Mary to the Church in his homily at the Mass held to celebrate the Marian Year of celebration and devotion declared by Pope John Paul II. He cites the willingness of Mary to say “Yes” to God’s request to be the Mother of Jesus as an example all Christians can use in their own lives as disciples of Christ. “We pray that Mary may be with us today as we struggle to be faithful disciples of Jesus,” said Archbishop Murphy. “We ask her to intercede on our behalf that we might have the courage to say ‘Yes’ to all that the Lord asks of us.”
