Billings Central High School Baccalaureate Mass

May 24, 1987

Bishop Murphy uses the example of Christ saying goodbye to his disciples on the night before his death as the context for his homily at the Baccalaureate Mass for Billings Central Catholic High School. He describes the Mass as the chance for teachers, family and friends to say goodbye. He calls attention to all present to the original meaning of “goodbye” – God be with you. “Together this evening, we pray that God will be with you as you step forth to live your lives as young adults in society and the Church today,” said Bishop Murphy. “But for God to be with you in a very real powerful way, you must be aware of his presence.”
