Celebrating Confirmation

Bishop Murphy provides an all-encompassing overview of the sacrament of confirmation in his “Reflections” column for the May 1996 edition of The Harvest. Celebrating confirmation was one of the most vibrant elements of his ministry. He articulated the essence of his view of the sacrament by stating, “Confirmation is not the end of the formation and education process in the development of the adult Christian. It is a graced experience that calls for ongoing growth and development. In many ways, it is a new beginning which ratifies the life of grace initiated at Baptism.”
