In his weekly Montana Catholic Register “Reflections” column, Bishop Murphy urges all the faithful to take advantage of the gift that is the sacrament of reconciliation during the season of Lent. “Catholic tradition and teaching today maintains that reconciliation is not just a private matter between the individual and God,” said Bishop Murphy. “Sin is not only an individual matter; its consequences are always social. Through the sacrament of reconciliation, we become reconciled to God and to others.”
