Toward a Theology of Fundraising

In this address delivered to the National Catholic Development Conference, Bishop Murphy defines fundraising as “the task of developing resources and exercising stewardship toward the material goods needed for the Church to fulfill its mission in today’s world.” He concluded the address by saying, “A theological reflection on fundraising gets to the heart of its value as a human and Christian enterprise because theology asks if in all the efforts expended on behalf of fundraising, do we discover the mystery of God’s presence.”
