Why Bother to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Bishop Murphy offers some personal insights into the meaning of the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day in his weekly Montana Catholic Register “Reflections” column. He shares the following poignant thought, “For myself, St. Patrick’s Day is a reminder to me of my parents – two people who crossed an ocean at the beginning of this century to begin a new life in a vibrant country. Their journey brought them together in the Midwest and they began to share a life together. Their sharing of life and love brought forth three other human beings with whom they shared a faith and a set of values and lifestyle that affects me to this day.”
