Ministry in the Eighties

Bishop Murphy in the address “Ministry in the Eighties” given at St. Paul Seminary discusses the past, current and future events that have and will continue to shape ministry in the Catholic Church in the 1980s and beyond. He defines ministry by saying, “And what is ministry? It is service to the Christian community, a service to others in the name of Jesus with many shapes and forms, performed and shared by men and women, ordained and non-ordained, in ministries which may be permanent, ritualized and public, or ministries which are temporarily acknowledged and recognized or even taken for granted.”
