The Significance of the Feast of St. Blasé and Ash Wednesday

Bishop Murphy in his weekly Montana Catholic Register “Reflections” column provides an overview of the importance of Feast of St. Blase? and Ash Wednesday. He offers the following observation on the symbolic meaning of ashes, “The sign of ashes is a call to prayer and penance during the season of Lent in order that we might prepare for the great feast of the Christian calendar – the resurrection of the Lord.”
