Challenging young people to hear the call to a vocation

Bishop Murphy focused relentlessly on vocations to the priesthood and religious life. He knew full well that the very future of the church depended on developing a new generation of men and women to serve the people of God. The bishop shared the following thought in the October 9, 1979 edition of the Montana Catholic Register, “I believe today, more than any other time in history, we must emphasize the vocation to religious life and priesthood as a valid and powerful option for young people. I believe we must go out and challenge young people to consider this option in a prayerful and reflective way.”
